Rajasthan CHO Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit, Registration & Key Rules

Becoming a Community Health Officer (CHO) in Rajasthan under the National Health Mission (NHM) and Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) is a popular career path for nursing and allied healthcare graduates. But like other states, Rajasthan’s eligibility criteria are not generic - they are defined precisely in each recruitment notification.

This guide breaks down the exact eligibility requirements for Rajasthan CHO based on the latest recruitment cycle and reliable exam summaries so you know whether you qualify before applying.

1. Educational Qualification

To be eligible for the Rajasthan NHM CHO recruitment, candidates must satisfy at least one of the following academic qualifications (from a recognized university or institute):

Accepted Degrees

B.Sc in Community HealthNursing qualification: General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc NursingAyurveda Practitioner (BAMS)

This means Rajasthan recognizes a broader set of healthcare degrees compared with some other states - including nursing and Ayurvedic graduates - as long as they are recognized by the appropriate council.

Note: Some recruitment cycles list B.Sc in Community Health explicitly; others combine this with nursing degrees and BAMS. Always check the exact wording in the current official notification.

2. Professional Registration

As per the Rajasthan CHO eligibility requirements, valid registration is mandatory:

Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife with the Rajasthan Nursing Council OR ✔ Registered with the Board of Indian Medicine, Rajasthan, if applying as an Ayurvedic practitioner (BAMS)

Your registration must be verifiable at the time of application and must remain valid through joining and document verification.

3. Age Limit & Relaxations

Standard Age Band

Minimum Age: 21 years • Maximum Age: 40 years

Age relaxations are available as per government norms. For example:

CategoryAge Relaxation
SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS Males+5 years
UR Female+5 years
SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS Females+10 years
Ex-Servicemenup to 50 years
PwBD+5 years

These relaxations help widen eligibility for reserved category applicants.

Important: The exact cut-off date for age calculation is defined in each notification - often the last date to apply - so always verify that in the current advertisement.

4. Experience Requirements

Unlike some states that prefer experience, Rajasthan CHO eligibility does not mandate prior work experience for the post. Candidates without experience can apply provided they meet the qualification, registration, and age criteria.

Experience, if considered, may be used for selection scoring in some cycles but is not a prerequisite for eligibility.

5. Nationality & Domicile

✔ Candidate must be an Indian citizen. Some notifications also permit persons from Nepal and certain other migration categories as per standard government recruitment norms.

Rajasthan CHO eligibility typically does not enforce a strict domicile requirement to apply, but local preference/priority may be given during selection and posting. Always check the specific recruitment announcement.

Who Is Not Eligible?

You are likely to be declared ineligible and your application may be rejected if:

❌ You do not possess one of the accepted degrees described above ❌ Your professional registration (nursing/Ayurveda) is missing, invalid, or not recognized ❌ Your age falls outside the prescribed limits without legal relaxation ❌ You have incomplete or incorrect registration documents during verification

Q4. Can non-Rajasthan domicile candidates apply? Yes, as long as you meet qualification, registration, and age criteria. Local preference may be applied in final selection in some cycles.

Q5. What is the age relaxation for reserved categories? SC/ST/OBC/EWS and other specified categories receive upper age relaxations as per government norms (e.g., +5 or +10 years).
