The Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET-10) is conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi, for filling Group B Nursing Officer posts (Level 7, Pay Band ₹9,300 - 34,800 + Grade Pay ₹4,600) across AIIMS and other participating government medical institutions.

  1. What is the eligibility criteria for NORCET-10? To apply for NORCET-10, candidates must have:
    • B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an INC-recognized university OR
    • GNM with 2 years of experience (for some posts, as per specific recruitment rules)
    • Registration with State Nursing Council is mandatory.
  2. Is there any age limit for NORCET-10? Yes. The general age limit is 18 to 30 years, with relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) as per central government norms.
  3. What is the exam pattern for NORCET-10 Stage I & II? While the exact syllabus is released in the official notification, generally:
    • Stage I (Preliminary):
      • Objective-type questions
      • Focus on Nursing fundamentals, clinical knowledge, and general awareness
      • Qualifying in nature
    • Stage II (Main):
      • Determines the final merit list
      • Includes advanced nursing application-based MCQs
      • May include negative marking (-0.33 per incorrect answer)
  4. Is there negative marking in NORCET-10? Yes. 1/3rd mark is deducted for every wrong answer. So, strategic answering is important - especially in Stage II.
  5. What happens if I clear Stage I but not Stage II? Stage I is just a qualifier. Only performance in Stage II counts for final selection and rank. Clearing Stage I alone does not guarantee a job.
